How Singaporeans Prefer to Meet their Partners
From the comfort of swiping right on dating apps to unexpected encounters in classrooms and the office, let’s uncover the ways Singaporeans are forging connections.
Traditional Matchmaking Scene
While digital platforms are gaining popularity, traditional methods of meeting partners remain highly valued. 69.5% of HappyDotters prefer to meet their partners through friends and family. This is followed by at the workplace (59.9%) and school (37.2%).
The Digital Dating Landscape
36.5% of HappyDotters have met someone through online platforms, which paints a picture of a tech-savvy population increasingly comfortable with the idea of finding potential partners online. Among those who have ventured into online dating, 60.6% of HappyDotters have met someone through dating apps, and 52.6% through social media and 13.6% through gaming platforms.
Swiping Right: Navigating the World of Dating Apps
35.5% of HappyDotters are open to meeting a potential partner through dating apps. Despite the popularity, safety is a paramount concern for many users. Our survey revealed only 12.4% consider online dating platforms ‘moderately to extremely safe’. 25.7% even view these platforms as ‘not safe at all’.
Human or AI match-making?
81.6% of HappyDotters trust human matchmakers more than AI, while 18.4% of are open to AI-powered recommendations. Among this group, the reasons for AI preference are its potential to eliminate human bias 42.3%, followed by data-driven matching (25.8%), and privacy and anonymity (22.6%).
