The streets are heating up. With temperatures reaching up to 37 degrees C, Singapore is not isolated from the effects of climate change. In this month’s Quick Polls, let’s explore how Singaporeans feel about climate change.
Do you think that Singapore is experiencing some/ any effects of climate change?
Based on 328 people polled as of 31 May 2023
Apart from hotter weather, there are other effects of climate change such as rising sea level, food and water insecurity etc. Majority (97%) perceive Singapore to be experiencing some/any effects of climate change.
Out of all the effects, some may be more visible such as increased health risk, where the spread of diseases is affected. Warmer temperatures also affect evaporation, which affects the security of water supply. Additionally, with extreme weather conditions, Singapore’s biodiversity may be threatened.
Encouragingly, more than 9 in 10 are aware that climate change can affect Singapore’s biodiversity, water supply and health.
With the high awareness of the effects of climate change, hopefully we can all strive towards combatting climate change and building a sustainable future together 🌳
