Eco-Friendly Habits in Singapore: The Power of Small, Everyday Changes

From energy-efficient choices at home to green transportation options, climate change is transforming how Singaporeans approach their daily habits. This shift in habits is not just about grand gestures but about the small, everyday changes that collectively make a significant impact.

Beyond Convenience:

Choosing Feet over Cars

One of the most recognised ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is through transportation choices. 82.8% of HappyDotters recognised the impact of walking, or cycling instead of using a car, thereby reducing carbon emissions and promoting a healthier lifestyle.

The Cool Choice- Fans over Air-Conditioners

Another area where HappyDotters are making a notable impact is the simple act of using a fan instead of an air-conditioner. 77.5% of HappyDotters acknowledged this is an impactful strategy. This reflects a growing awareness of energy efficiency in Singapore, where the tropical climate often tempts us to rely heavily on air conditioning.

Changing the Narrative: Every Action Counts

When asked about the statement, “There is no point in changing my own behaviour to tackle climate change because it won’t make any difference anyway,” a significant 41.9% of HappyDotters disagreed, and 17.5% strongly disagreed. As more people adopt eco-friendly habits, this leads to a multiplier effect in climate change mitigation efforts.

Nurturing Singapore’s Green Future

It’s clear that Singaporeans are not just aware of the climate crisis but are actively participating in solutions. These small, everyday changes are the building blocks of Singapore’s green future.
